Sri Ramanuja visited Thirukoshtiyur 18 times to receive the sacred Ashtakshara Mantra from his guru Thirukachchi Nambi (Kanchipurna). This temple holds immense significance in the life of Sri Ramanuja and the Vaishnavite tradition.

ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜர் தனது குரு திருகச்சி நம்பி (காஞ்சிபூர்ணர்) அவர்களிடமிருந்து புனிதமான அஷ்டாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தைப் பெற திருக்கோஷ்டியூருக்கு 18 முறை வந்தார். இந்த கோயில் ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் வாழ்க்கையிலும் வைணவ பாரம்பரியத்திலும் மிகப்பெரிய முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தது.

According to tradition, Thirukachchi Nambi was initially hesitant to share the sacred mantra, but finally conveyed it to Ramanuja, with the condition that it should be kept secret. However, Ramanuja, in his infinite compassion, shared the mantra with all devotees from the temple gopuram, ready to accept any consequences for the benefit of humanity.

பாரம்பரியத்தின் படி, திருகச்சி நம்பி ஆரம்பத்தில் புனித மந்திரத்தைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள தயங்கினார், ஆனால் இறுதியாக ரகசியமாக வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற நிபந்தனையுடன் ராமானுஜருக்கு அதை வெளிப்படுத்தினார். இருப்பினும், ராமானுஜர் தனது எல்லையற்ற கருணையில், மனிதகுலத்தின் நன்மைக்காக எந்த விளைவுகளையும் ஏற்க தயாராக, கோபுரத்தில் இருந்து அனைத்து பக்தர்களுடனும் மந்திரத்தைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

The temple is known as "Then Badri" (Southern Badrinath) and is one of the 108 Divya Desams. The presiding deity appears in three divine forms - standing as Devarajan, sitting as Sowmiya Narayanan, and reclining as Devapiran.

இந்த கோயில் "தென் பத்ரி" (தென் பத்ரிநாத்) என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது மற்றும் 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். மூலவர் மூன்று திவ்ய வடிவங்களில் காட்சி தருகிறார் - தேவராஜனாக நின்ற கோலம், சௌமிய நாராயணனாக அமர்ந்த கோலம், மற்றும் தேவபிரானாக சயன கோலம்.
